Home prices in the US are set to decline, almost certainly in real terms and probably in nominal terms as well. Outside the US, the housing outlook is more challenging. This is especially the case in smaller developed economies such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. It is also the case in China, where the property market may be on the verge of a Japanese-style multi-decade slide.
